…timely reminder

So, I just came across this note. Actually totally unsure how my email found it considering I entered the inbox and it was from December 2016 and hiding in a folder 🤔 Another technology mystery 😉

So on this day- where I’ve not a lot to say (I know, I know – I always say that and then write a thesis) this little note seems to sum up perfectly what’s in my heart.

Give got this

You can do this

It’s your time!

So here it is… a note from my inbox

Who do you say I am?

Chosen by the beloved

Loved beyond measure

Forgiven for all eternity

Worthy to be called a son of God

Treasured in the Almighty’s heart

Beautiful beyond measure and loved more than the flower of the field and the bird of the air.

You are a child of God, chosen and created for a plan and purpose.

Born into this very era, for this is your ‘now’ time.

You are beautiful and chosen to represent me and my love to the world. A world crying to know the a love of the Father, the joy of the king.

So rather than expand it, I’m going to let you ponder that thru, while I head to the park to celebrate a friend birthday. Hello Summer!
Until next week, Happy Pondering xx

It’s ok …

What a week, fortnight really! It’s gone past at the speed of light- so quick I never wrote last week. Honestly, the temptation is there to skip another week. But we all know how that goes. One turns to two and two turns to 3 years. Well, slight exaggeration but only slight😉

I really wanted to leave you with something earth shattering, life changing, history making but I’ve got nothing.

That’s the truth of it really- it’s not so much the big ‘wow’ days that make your life remarkable but the way you do the day after day, through the good, bad, triumphant, and devastating. In the days that follow sleepless nights and diets blowouts.

So I just want to say ‘you’re going great!, don’t give up and don’t allow circumstances and other people actions determine your character and your responses. After all great character is forged in the muck of life. Unfortunately, it’s in the testing that what lies beneath is revealed.

Today- what lies beneath is a very tired 😴 girl longing to sleep through the night, walk without crutches and honor her God will her response to all that 2017 is throwing at her.

What’s your 2017 revealing

Mine- glad you asked 😉. It’s revealing, yet again, that God is always at work, even when things don’t go to plan, when the unexpected becomes reality. That He’s faithful and good, even then things try to scream otherwise. I take it this way- if I wake up breathing again, this new day- I’ve been given had a purpose; and so do I – in it. Not only that, yesterdays stuff doesn’t have to ruin today’s. Sure there might be some stuff and junk to work through, but don’t allow yesterday to ruin your tomorrow- that’s how life is stolen.
So breathe on …..have a fabulous day! If needed, in spite of what is going on. Cause- life’s worth living and I plan on enjoying it! Hope you do too.

That’s all from me …. 👋🏻

4 L’s _ Part 1

Grinding to a halt. Very fast the end of the summer (truth be told in Melbourne, summer never truly arrived) and first few month of twenty 17 has came, with full stop will marking its end . With that in mind let’s look over what it is in life that frames your days, as we move more into this year . While this is not set in stone for me; here’s a list I’ve been holding near during the last 18 months or so.   A motto so to speak.
Live. Love. Laugh. Learn
Live: life is for living, not just tolerating. All to often we can stumble through the routine of life and be caught in the ‘busy’ cycle. And forget that life is for enjoying. Make it a goal to enjoy  loved ones, friends, the work you do, go to new countries, new restaurants, go to your favorite places, your favorite coffee spot.
Love: God loves us immeasurably and in this we learn to love others. Sometimes the harder part is not loving others, but ourselves. Allowing ourselves to look in the mirror and see what God sees and says about you.(Hint – you are fearfully and wonderfully made Ps 139).
Laugh: many times in life we are faced with laugh or cry circumstances, desire to live life as someone who laughs in the face of adversity. (And smile everyday 🙂 )
And finally
Learn: there’s always a way to extend ourselves thru being pliable and not immovable in life. Look to grow from trials, mistakes and challenges. And let the things your passionate about drive you to more understanding, knowledge and wisdom.
There a heap more that can be said about these, and was until I just deleted it 😉 . Because sometimes extra words are just that.  Besides plans are in motion to cover them in more depth over the month of March.
Before I go- I’ve some news. I’ve created a Facebook page for Sozotalk, here I’ll be posting a few extra things during the week(well that’s the plan- here’s to being disciplined 😬). So free free to also join me there https://m.facebook.com/sozotalkAUS/

armoured up! P.1

As promised here we are starting the first series planned for 2017… hope you enjoy the ride:)

The armour of God – amazing! During a study in 2016, by Priscilla Shirer, I spend 6 weeks just focused on the armour of God, those 8 little verses found in Eph 6:10-18.  But as I studied them God poured out an amazing image before me, which I’ll be writing about over the coming weeks.
But before I dig into it, let’s have a read of them from The Message translation….
10-12 And that about wraps it up. God is strong, and he wants you strong. So take everything the Master has set out for you, well-made weapons of the best materials. And put them to use so you will be able to stand up to everything the Devil throws your way. This is no afternoon athletic contest that we’ll walk away from and forget about in a couple of hours. This is for keeps, a life-or-death fight to the finish against the Devil and all his angels.
13-18 Be prepared. You’re up against far more than you can handle on your own. Take all the help you can get, every weapon God has issued, so that when it’s all over but the shouting you’ll still be on your feet. Truth, righteousness, peace, faith, and salvation are more than words. Learn how to apply them. You’ll need them throughout your life. God’s Word is an indispensable weapon. In the same way, prayer is essential in this ongoing warfare. Pray hard and long. Pray for your brothers and sisters. Keep your eyes open. Keep each other’s spirits up so that no one falls behind or drops out.
Shirer says ‘The first step in utilizing my spiritual resources is recognise I have them’ and I couldn’t agree more. You can’t use what you don’t know you have. Furthermore, you can’t use to the fullest potential what you don’t know how to use. Like we chatted about ever so briefly last time, if we don’t know the purpose of something  then we set ourselves up to be disappointed, disillusioned and in dispute with the intention of a great thing and in this case the armour that God has given us through the relationship we have available with Him.
We’ve all seen an instruction book and thrown it aside to muddle our way though. But, sometimes when we do that, there’s a few screws left from building the furniture or a feature we never use because we don’t understand the symbol. God has given us access to spiritual resources, once we recognise them and then learn about them, we need to actively engage in learning to live with them daily, not just in crisis mode. The greatest way to learn is through relationship with Jesus, ongoing communication- prayer. It’s the activator, the initiator, the connection point, the glue in our relationships with Him.
I’m going to be unpacking this passage and a few thoughts over the coming weeks.  Like many passages we can read them and re-read them and then one day – bam! It hits you in a new way (but more on that next week).   Today is about getting the thinking juices going and I’ll leave you to ponder this;  If ‘God is strong and He wants you strong’, how do you think you’re going with that?
Until Next week
Happy Pondering x
Bonus Thought 🙂 When was the last time you chatted to God? Its tough to be in relationship with someone when you don’t talk to them; the same applies to God.  The trouble being, He is ultimately the strongest one  and the one who wants to be your strength, always.  He wants to be included in your life – so why not include Him a little more!

Knowing Its Use

img_8202The other day I went jet boating for the first time, on the Dart River in New Zealand (just out of the adventure capital Queenstown). I don’t consider myself an adrenaline junky, but I was keen to see them do some tricks but also a little nervous about if I’d like it. I LOVED IT! Especially the 360’s. It’s amazing how they can seemingly fly over the riverbed, with sometimes as little as 4 inches of water beneath the boat.

When I got back, I penned a Trip Advisor review (seems I’m addicted to those badges 😉) of our trip and praised them for the perfect mix of adventure, sightseeing and Lord of the Rings talk. After this, I did a tour through the ‘terrible’ reviews the company had received on this platform. I had to chuckle as people complained about the strangest things. My favourite, that by going to fast they ruined the view (it is beautiful country) and that the 360’s where childish.

Seems I’m childish, but in our last 360- I actually jumped off my seat by about a foot and thudded down and got sprayed by a mass of water. All the time, smiling like a childish fool (I’ll wear that as a badge of honour I think), loving it and disappointed it was over.

But this review got me thinking. If we don’t know the purpose of something (eg an jet boat ride in an adventure capital is guaranteed to spin) then we set ourselves up to be disappointed, disillusioned and in disputes with the intention of a great thing.

Over the coming weeks, I’m going to be doing a series ‘Armoured Up!’I hope you’ll join me for this journey. It might not have 360’s or jet boats and there certainly won’t be snow capped mountains in summer in the back ground but I hope it will be memorable- just like the little jet boat ride!

Until next week
Live life fun and make sweet memories

and so it begins

I’m going on an adventure! (Enter little excited hobbit here). Well, 2017 is here and what better way to kick it off than with an adventure. My sister and I are currently in New Zealand (I’m sure we’ll visit some Lord of the Rings spots). You can follow our travel reviews at trip advisor just look for Sozo Sisters.

But on a more serious note- I’ve got an adventure I’m going to take this year. Plans are afoot! And I hope you’ll join me in heading out into 2017 with a light step, light heart and joyful smile (after all we dumped all the stuff that isn’t for year. Read ‘Drop It’ here if you’re not across this thinking thought https://sozotalk.wordpress.com/2016/12/08/drop-it/ ). Whilst we don’t know what’s ahead, we can choose now to be a responder and not a reactor this year. As the good, the bad, the fabulous and the grrr moments come at you- from across the horizon of two17; position yourself to respond and respond well. Don’t let fear, anger, doubt or confusion steal the moment when stress comes. Rather, than react from a place of powerlessness, respond from a place of secured identity and confidence. After all, stuff happens to us all- but it’s how we respond to it that reflects who we are and more important who were becoming.

I’m reminded that I’m make in His (God’s) image (Gen 1:27) and being transformed from glory to glory (2 Cor 3:18).  The best in our lives and character is yet to come if we keep remaining close to God.

It’s a journey, an adventure and I’m excited to see what unfolds over our next trip round the sun on this little blue ball.

Until next week, stay firmly planted in the awesomely amazing knowledge that God thinks you’re awesome, and He’s positioned for a year of great adventure like none you’ve known.

Happy pondering xx

Crept up on us

Photo Cred: Joel Smith NYE Berlin 2016

I don’t know about you, but I think two17 has crept up to the front door of life. I mean what happened to twenty16, it’s like one minute I’m in Berlin watching the most amazing NYE fireworks display ever with one million other people. And next minute I’m buying Christmas pressies and a new diary.
Having said that I’m actually glad to be done with this year- you see God called to my attention some things He wanted me to drop at the doorway of the New Year and carry no longer. And with each minute it gets closer I am more and more excited about them not influencing my future.
We chatted about it the other week (see Drop it https://sozotalk.wordpress.com/2016/12/08/drop-it/  ), but I wanted to encourage you to grab a few minutes of quiet where you can think and chat to God. Ask Him- is there something that I’ve been living with, where you’ve said enough? It could be a way of thinking, believing, behaving. It could be a sorrow, a hurt, a fear. You instant reaction may be, but I’m used to it, I can’t imagine life without that thinking, it can’t change.
But that’s not what God says about it in His book….
The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases
                  his mercies never come to an end;
They are new every morning;
great is your faithfulness.   Lamentations 3:22-23 (ESV)
-compassionate or kindly forbearance shown
-an act of kindness, compassion, or favour:
Every day we stand at the doorway to a new starting point, a new way of living. Somehow, it seems easier to start afresh as the New Year dawns. This year as we sit at the threshold of a new year, I implore you, cross over free from the clutter of stuff and into the knowledge that each day can be new. In fact, at any moment you can chat with God during life and ask Him for a new day.
That’s how He loves you!
Well until next year-Live, laugh, learn and love well

the best, the beautiful

fairyHow easy it is to become side-tracked from the best and beautiful things of life.  And for this reason we are encouraged to actively fill our minds with such things.  We look around the world, our worlds and can easily be tripped up by the ugly, the worst, the vague, the confusing and the concerning.  All the while forgetting that there is much to be thankful for – especially for those of us who live in developed nations; we easily forget that while we wonder about what to wear, someone has nothing to wear.  Oh, while we complain about the cost of food, some have none to eat.  I’m not trying to trip you up and have you feel bad about living in a blessed society.  Merely, saying it’s way too easy to forget that life is good.  God is good. And even when our world or the world seems like it falling apart.  We are blessed to fall into the arms of Jesus for comfort, hope, joy, strength and love.

What in your world is beautiful today?  For me, it’s the gentle breeze in the trees on our first 30 degree day in 9 months. (yey!!!Summer is coming to Melbourne)

What’s the best in your world today? So much am I grateful for, but the best of today, is knowing God is totally at work in and around my world. (Love that realisation so much)

Ok, that’s all from me -over and out

Happy Pondering xx

Oh, feel free to comment below the best and beautiful of your day 🙂

3 words

photo-1431207446535-a9296cf995b1Challenge accepted! Can you wrap your 2016 so far into only 3 words – this was the challenge laid out before me.  What! 3 words for a talker! Impossible! But when I took a deep breathe to ponder the challenge, what came was the best summary of all.

So, I’m not going to tell you mine…I know – not fair, but I’ve a great title for a book now 😉 The challenge is not so much for sharing, but personally taking stock of what’s been unfolding in the sheer, fast passed madness which is twenty16.  So, grab a coffee, and take 30 seconds to quiet yourself and ask the question ‘what’s my 3 word summary for this year’.  You might be amazed at what follows – I know I was!

Until next time,Happy pondering

absentAbsent, that’s what I’ve been…. Almost six months have flown past and I’ve not created the space to chat with you.  Life can so easily get busy and we can forget what is truly important to us.  For me the last months have been study, study, study, with a side serve of work and ministry on top. In the busy – I’ve lost the perspective of stopping to smell the roses, so to speak. I mean how do seven days fly by and feel like only hours? Because you’re busy – doing, not living.  Guilty as charged!!

I’ve adopted the phrase- it’s just a season of ‘no’s’, but truth be told its a season of blur. Stop the world, I want to get off! I miss having coffee and a chat with friends at a leisurely pace, or dream building how to change the world. Writing a list of places to visit, or going for a drive to the Yarra Valley and just breathing in the relaxing beauty that awaits.

Here’s my advice, if is just a season of busy, make sure it’s got a time limit (mine does- only three more weeks of crazy). Why? Because days, months and years can slip by while you’re in a ‘busy coma‘.  I’d hate to hear that you woke up later and didn’t know who anyone was anymore. Life is for living, laughing, loving and enjoying. Sure at times we need to work hard,  but as my friend says ‘work hard, play hard’. Remember, you have a fabulous destiny, I believe Jesus wants to walk with you into it, not see you strive to accomplish it by yourself.

Happy pondering

I’ll try taking my own advice, hope to be back next week 🙂
